Ráðstevna um ull

Búnaðarstovan skipar í september 2015 fyri eini ullaráðstevnu á Hotel Føroyum.
Á ráðstevnuni verða fyrllestrar og útferðir, umframt ein framsýning av vørum úr ull, bæði føroyskum og útlendskum.

Ullarįšstevna ķ september

The North Atlantic Native Sheep and Wool Conference er ein altjóša rįšstevna, sum veršur hildin įrliga ķ noršur atlantiska ųkinum. Hon hevur veriš hildin ķ Orknoyggjum ķ 2011, ķ Noregi ķ 2012, ķ Hetlandi ķ 2013 og ķ Ķslandi ķ 2014. Ķ įr veršur hon so hildin ķ Fųroyum ķ dųgunum 10. til 14. september į Hotel Fųroyum og ķ 2016 ķ Sušuroyggjum.

Sjįlvt um hetta er ein altjóša rįšstevna, so veršur mest hugsaš um londini ķ Noršur Atlantshavinum, Ķsland, Grųnland, Fųroyar, Orknoyggjar, Hetland, Sušuroyggjar og Noreg. Seyšurin ķ hesum londunum er nęr skyldur og umstųšurnar, hann livir undir lķkjast eisini og harviš eisini ullin.

Endamįliš viš rįšstevnuni er at varpa ljós į ullina av hesum seyšaslagi, at savna og śtveksla vitan um ullina og śrdrįttir śr henni, at viršisųkja ullina, savna hugskot til nżtslu av ullartilfeinginum og at menna vinnuna, sum góšskar ull, frį byrjan til lišugtvųru.

Thursday 10. September
Arrival day - Airport shuttle from Vįgar Airport to Hotel Fųroyar and the youth hostel Kerjalon.

Friday 11. September

09.15 – 12.00 Lectures in meeting room A+B in Hotel Fųroyar. Exhibition in Gestastova.
12.00 – 13.00 Lunch
13.00 – 15.00Visit the Agricultural Research Station in Kollafjųršur where you will visit their sheep farm and see their sheep flock, and you will get a briefing about ongoing researches on sheep. 15.00 – 19.00. The tour goes on to the village Bųur on the island of Vįgar. In "Pakkhśsiš in Bų”, an ancient warehouse built in 1861, you will get the story about wool and wool production in the Faroe Islands. A local man will show how to spin wool on a Faroese spinning wheel and women will show various way to knit. Hear the story of how wool becomes yarn. Coffee and cake are served in these fine surroundings.

Saturday 12. September
09.00 – 12.00 Lectures in meeting room A+B in Hotel Fųroyar. Exhibition in Gestastova.
12.00 – 13.00 Lunch
13.00 – 18.00 Walking exploration in the old city quarter in Tórshavn, Reyn with its small alleys and charming houses with grass roofs. See Tinganes where the Parliament is. The local guide will tell stories about the past and present. The tour also goes by the old cathedral Havnar Kirkja, the old and charming bookshop and further on to its cozy adjacent neighborhood, Vįgsbotn, with its many boats. Stop by a few knitwear stores, some of the most well-known and best quality knitwear you can find. Continue by bus to the village of Kirkjubųur which is the Faroe Islands’ historical and cultural center, where you will be greeted by the local host, who is the 17th generation living on the farm. We visit the cathedral, the church and the museum. Coffee will be served in these fine historic settings.
20.00 – 02.00 Galla dinner at Hotel Fųroyar.

Sunday 13. September
09.00 – 12.00 Lectures in meeting room A+B in Hotel Fųroyar. Exhibition in Gestastova.
12.00 – 13.00 Lunch
13.00 – 19.00 By bus towards the village of Eiši on the island of Eysturoy, here you can see the impressive rock formations the Giant and the Witch which lie in the sea along the coast. Pass the highest mountain in the Faroes Slęttaratindur (882 m). Continue through an area where you truly can see the geology of the Faroes deep fjords and valleys before arriving to the northern most village on Eysturoy, Gjógv. In Gjógv we explore this small village and walk alongside the natural harbour with good view to the northern islands. Next stop is to visit the farm "Varmakeldugaršin” in the village Noršragųta. The farmer’s wife Bįra will greet you. You will be given insight into the farming life in the Faroe Islands both present day and historical. Bįra will then lead the group around Varmakeldugaršin where you will meet the animals. After the tour you will visit the farmer’s home in the village for coffee and cake. The tour goes on to the yarn store Navia in the village of Toftir. You will meet the owner and manager of Navia Mr Óli Kristian į Torkilsheyggi who will tell you about his business. Navia now has customers in 9 different countries, and delivers to approx. 400 shops around the World. Last stop today is to visit Snęldan, a traditional wool producer and knitwear manufacturer, founded in 1949 and headed today by Carl Johan Olsen. The lanolin-rich Faroese wool is firstly combed to remove all the hair. The Faroese term for the resulting yarn is nappaš tógv, which is wonderfully soft. This is then blended with wool from the Falkland Islands. The sheep on the Falkland Islands are 7/8ths Merino. The resulting melding from the North and South Atlantic produces this world-class yarn.
